Fanuc Robotic Multi Media Shot Peen System

shot peening

DCI Aerotech is Nadcap AMS2432 Accredited for shot peening with a state of the art seven axis Fanuc Robotic Multi Media Shot Peen system. We specialize in aerospace components and aircraft landing gear overhaul. We have unlimited programming capability and can handle complex geometry from very small parts to large parts. We can peen up to a 48″ deep ID with our Lance system. Our system can quickly change from one media to another allowing for a wide range of peening applications. We offer glass bead peening on aluminum components and the flexibility to also use stainless shot and cut wire as well.

Shot Peening is very commonly used in Aerospace prior to the application of heavy deposit chrome and nickel plating as well as on Gears and for parts rated for unlimited life under dynamic loads.

peening Shot peening is used to induce a uniform layer of compressive stress on the surface of the part. This helps prevent crack propagation because cracks form under tensile stresses. Peening leaves a dimpled surface similar to using a ball peen hammer on metal only with very small dimples. These peen marks cover the material creating a highly stressed compressive layer.

The benefits of shotpeening: Resistance to Fatigue cracking, stress corrosion cracking, hydrogen assisted cracking, galling, cavitation erosion and fretting.

DCI Aerotech has a State-of-the-Art facility and highly knowledgeable engineering staff to assist you with your Shot Peening needs.
